Alumni, community members invited to witness Monday’s opening of WGS time capsule

WINNEMUCCA, Nev.—Forget amusement parks, video games and the Barbie aisle at Toys ‘R’ Us. Faculty members at Winnemucca Grammar School say by the time this coming week is over, kids will associate reading with fun.

Winnemucca Grammar School will kick off its celebration of Reading Week on Monday, May 14, using the theme, “Make a Date with History.” MORE

BARRICK TURQUOISE RIDGE, HYCROFT MINES DONATE TOWARD HIGH SCHOOL CALCULATOR PROJECT

WINNEMUCCA, Nev.—Two local mines have donated a combined total of $3,000 to purchase dozens of much-needed calculators at Lowry High School.

Barrick Gold Corporation’s Turquoise Ridge Mine has donated $2,000 to the calculator project, while Hycroft Resources & Development, Inc. added another $1,000. MORE

PUBLIC INVITED TO WINNEMUCCA GRAMMAR SCHOOL BOOK FAIR

WINNEMUCCA, Nev.—All Humboldt County residents are invited to “book” it on over to the Winnemucca Grammar School next week for the annual Spring Book Fair.

The semi-annual book fair will begin on Tuesday, May 15, and continue through Friday, May 18. The event will include many great children’s book titles at very reasonable prices. MORE
