The end of the school year is upon us, and it’s finally time to say goodbye to the graduating class of 2012. This year’s seniors are sure to be missed as they take the next step into the rest of their lives.
Secretary Solis will meet today with Mayor Nutter in Philadelphia at their City Hall. He will announce in a press release that the White House will provide nearly 300,000 summer jobs for youth. Included in these jobs are mentorships, internships, and training opportunities.
Hanna Haun is in Mrs. Rorex’ Textile and Construction 1 class, she has been picked as the Performer of the Week because of the sundress she constructed.
Every year the seniors who participate in Drama and Stagecraft have their two nights to show off their own personal talents. Each senior has the choice of participating or not, they can choose what they do and how many different acts they do as well.
This week’s Athlete of the Week is boy’s varsity swimmer, junior Michael Drake. Drake was chosen for his hard work and dedication in the pool and in the class.

Baseball competed in Fallon this past weekend for their regional tournament determining whether or not they will be going to state. The turn out was not as planned with this last weekend being the end of the baseball season.
It is a night that high school students look forward to for the whole year. Girls look for their dresses months in advance and guys will plan out who to ask and how to ask them weeks prior to that.
Kelton Robbins, junior, was selected for performer of the week for his efforts in Mr. Criddle's band. He plays lead trumpet and is a valuable asset to the Lowry band.

On Tuesday May 15, 2012, Winnada will be hosting its annual Yearbook Signing Party. It will be held in the courtyard after school. Admission is three dollars.
On Tuesday May 1, The freshmen and sophomores from Lowry competed in the JV championships. Some of these runners are not just JV, plenty of them compete in JV and Varsity for more running time and will be competing again Saturday, May 5 to qualify for zone.
Lowry traveled to Northwest pool in Reno on Saturday, April 28 to compete against Manogue and Fallon High Schools in a dual meet. Coming off an excellent win against Wooster, Lowry came to show that they own Northern Nevada's swimming division.
Four years ago National Honor Society advisors Michelle Pasquale and Rene Hill, decided to hold an awards ceremony at the end of the school year. This ceremony was "meant to recognize those members that had gone above and beyond during that year." said Pasquale.

This week’s Athlete of the Week comes to us from the swimming pool. The Lowry swim team has been working hard to ensure that multiple athletes make their way to zone this year. Junior, Trystan Blouir was chosen by his coach and teammates as this week’s star swimmer.
